Al Boka

Al Boka

AIMS Treasurer

Al Boka became a committed runner while attending university and has run 36 marathons, including the 100th Boston Marathon. He has a best marathon time of 2:45:07. He founded the Las Vegas Marathon, in 1981, initially attracting 157 runners. He developed it through the years until 2004 when he sold it to a large corporation. By the time of sale race attendance had reached the 10,000 level including runners from more than 30 countries.

He was nominated for the position of AIMS Treasurer in 1996 by the outgoing AIMS Secretary/Treasurer, Andy Galloway, and was duly elected. Since then he has developed procedures and policies which define and control AIMS financial matters. These controls over spending have greatly contributed towards the favorable financial position which AIMS enjoys today. In 2018, Al became a co-director of the Nanjing Luhe Zhuzhen Half Marathon in China. Al also remains as the AIMS coordinator for the current iteration of his original creation which is now called the Rock ‘n Roll Las Vegas Marathon.
